I'm sorry I my method of trying to help resolve this issue seems a bit confusing, but believe it or not, the problem that I have been having with Avidemux is just as frustrating for me, but please keep in mind that I never claimed to be an expert with Linux (I used the term " "playback"mode" only for lac of a better way to describe what to call it when I click on the "play" button on the bottom of the screen), and I was not deliberately trying to change the subject.

Code: [Select]
bash bootStrap.bash --deb
gestartet.

Thanks, it displays indeed a lot of information.

I will have a look and see what I can recognize from x264 encoding settings in Avidemux.

When I select details it even shows a huge list of hexadecimal numbers in front of each information.

I wonder if this is the way the info is stored, and so what the media info program reads and interprets.

I do understand, created an upload folder here: http://my.rapidshare.com/JanGruuthuse/1381 where you can upload without registering.

Thanks Jan, I would prefer not to have to create an account on rapid share if possible.

Styrol, thanks for your offer, i suggested an alternative method in pm. Sorry for pm you without asking first, please let me know if this suits you or i'll look for something else (or if you have an alternative please let me know).

What do you mean by "truetype font"?
.ttf, as you guesed  TrueType
Quote
I tried without choosing a font at all in one instance; and I copied "tahoma.ttf" from Windows's fonts to the same folder and chose it.
Neither worked.
No font selected = no output.
Probably you need to select a font that support your specific language (right to left) not sure if tahoma would support this. Have my self no way of testing this. Don't have windows.
Perhaps this test will work? Use word processor load the srt file (is ascii text) and see what truetype font(s) show the text correctly. Copy the this truetype font to the used folder and select this font.
It should work in filter preview or in player mode. Don't for get to select Output – display filtered output in the main window in the player:

DVD = don't use 2.6 branch, use 2.5.6. You can use both alongside.

x264 is not installed on your system? Or avidemux has not been build with it?
http://www.videolan.org/developers/x264.html
H264 content = handle with 2.6 branch.
Select in Preferences other video display, see if that works.
Avidemux is not a video player.

You always change the subject or what is happening: I give up dealing with your issues.
