Deinterlacing video parts
fturco:
Hello. Is it possible to deinterlace only some parts of a video and not the whole file? I'm using the Yadif video filter and Avidemux 2.5.6 on a MPEG-2 PS file. Thank you.
Jan Gruuthuse:
Once you added Yadif video filter and it is in the Active Filters, select it. And with [Partial] bottom of Active Filters you can define partial start and end frame. Think this is what you need.
fturco:
Thank you. It's exactly what I'm looking for.

I noticed that a single TV program can have both progressive and interlaced parts, and I find too demanding for me to manually apply the Yadif de-interlacing filter to the latter ones. Is there a way to automatically apply de-interlacing without touching progressive scenes? Otherwise I have to keep videos as they are, but this way they look ugly. Perhaps there is another solution I'm not aware of.

I found the filter simply named "Deinterlace" (port of smart deinterlace, http://www.avidemux.org/admWiki/doku.php?id=using:video_filter_deinterlace). It seems it detects interlaced parts and deinterlace those only, leaving intact progressive parts. I really think I'll keep default settings. Is this the way to go?
