Suggestions on Settings

Hi Guys,

I'm new to Avidemux, and read the documentation for Mpeg-4 AVC, trying to figure out the best settings. I have a video to upsize, with original video details as follows:

I've tried my best to read the documentation and tweak whatever setting i could think of, but i'm still getting some nasty blocks, and cant seem to get the video quality just right.

Would appreciate any advise from the experts here. I know the settings above seem quite overboard, please do advise what i should do.

Check the worst parts in VLC with original video in full screen. If the artifacts show there, there is no way this will disappear with upscaling. The limitations are: you never get video better then its source. Magic has its limitations.
If the original does not has these artifacts, that you blow up in upscaling. Make test video with these affected parts and test with these to improve the upscaling.
Setting a quality greater then the original source makes no sense. The quality loss is already there and will not improve.
Use preview window, it might give you indication of what you will get.
In short upscaling dvd to blu-ray use quality settings of the dvd, if web based video use these quality settings.
You are nearly doubling picture size and frames (creating images in between from image before and image after). The less info is available, the more difficult it becomes to have this image computed.
There are no universal settings, try default settings, see what it produces.
Try to find better source material to start with, if this exists.
